Weekends
All girls at Heathfield St Mary’s are boarders and a full range of activities and outings are offered at weekends. The Lower VI Form / Year 12 House captains play an active role in organising weekend events for all girls in the school.
There is a prep session every Saturday morning. In the afternoons there is an extensive programme of sports fixtures. The indoor swimming pool, the tennis courts and the sports hall are in constant use.
Every weekend there is also a varied programme of activities on offer to the girls. They are occupied with dance and music workshops and competitions, craft sessions and cookery in school. On Saturday evenings all the girls enjoy discos, bands, quizzes and House competitions.
There are clubs in school on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and every weekend there are House outings, ranging from theatre, cinema, art gallery and museum visits to shopping, bowling and ice skating.
Facilities such as the cookery room, computer rooms, the art studio and the library are open throughout the weekend and common rooms are used for relaxation or for video and pizza evenings.
For older girls, Caledonian evenings, wine tasting, black-tie dinners and discos are arranged with boys from local independent schools such as Eton, Harrow and Wellington College.
