School Day
During the working day girls follow a busy, well-planned timetable of lessons and activities. The day starts with tutor time and then chapel service or school assembly. From 8.55am there are lessons, broken up by a mid-morning break, until lunchtime. After lunch, lessons continue until 4.00pm.
The girls have three hours before supper when they enjoy relaxing free time, do their prep, and fit in other activities such as sports matches, music lessons and rehearsals or take part in other extra-curricular activities.
Prep for girls in Forms I - III / Years 7 - 9 is conducted in a supervised classroom area and there is always staff – both academic and pastoral – on hand to offer assistance and advice. There is also a prep surgery. To encourage independent learning the senior girls do their work in their study bedrooms or in the library.
Once a week in the evening there is a short chapel service. After supper girls are free to continue with their work, extra-curricular programme or leisure activities.
There are regular informal concerts, House events, talks and discussion groups, as well as opportunities to use facilities such as the common rooms, art studio, music practice rooms, drama studio, computer rooms, library, swimming pool, sports hall and fitness suite.
Bedtimes vary according to age but all girls enjoy some relaxing time with their friends and Housemistresses before being encouraged to settle down to sleep at the appropriate time.
