Scholarships and Bursaries

A number of scholarships, exhibitions, bursaries and discounts are available each year to ensure that Heathfield St Mary’s remains accessible to a wide range of families.

Scholarship awards are no less than 10% and a maximum of 20% of fees. All scholarships are means tested.

 

Butler Bursary

The Butler Bursary is an exciting initiative to widen access to Heathfield St Mary’s School, generously funded through the recent merger of Heathfield School and St Mary’s Wantage and is named after the founder of St Mary’s, the Reverend William Butler.
The Butler Bursary will greatly enhance the lives of girls joining the School and applies to those entering Year 7 (Form I) or Year 9 (Form III) commencing September 2007. This means-tested bursary is for up to 50% of the academic and boarding fees and will continue for the duration of a girl’s education up to and including Year 11 (Form V). Places are limited.

Academic Scholarships

Academic scholarships are available to girls joining in Forms I, III and Lower Sixth / Years 7,9 and 12 who attain the highest overall results in the entrance examination. These scholarships are means tested.

• Form I / Year 7 – via the Common Entrance examination paper and interview
• Form III / Year 9 – via Heathfield St Mary’s own entrance papers and interview
• Lower VI Form / Year 12 – via Heathfield St Mary’s own scholarship papers (two academic subjects and a general paper) and interview.

 

Performing Arts Scholarships and Exhibitions

Girls who sit the scholarship examination papers for entry to Forms I, III and Lower VI / Years 7, 9 and 12  are eligible for the performing arts scholarship and exhibition. These are awarded to the girls attaining the highest marks in the scholarship exams for the following:

• Art
• Music
• Drama
• Sports (Sixth form only)

The performing arts scholarships are means tested but the exhibitions (up to 10% of fees) are not.

 

Academic Bursaries

Two means tested academic bursaries of up to 50% are available each year to girls who attain results within the top 40% of marks in the Common Entrance examination.

 

Discounts

In addition Heathfield St Mary’s makes the following discounts available:

• Diplomatic service – 10% available for five girls
• Armed forces – 20% available for five girls
• Clergy – 75% for one girl
• Siblings – 5% for second and each subsequent sisters
