Polo
The History of Heathfield School Polo Club

Polo began at Heathfield School in 2001 and has grown into a strong school sport. Girls are playing polo regularly at a variety of clubs and represent the school at national tournaments hosted by the Schools and Universities Polo Association. Heathfield School has been victorious at the National Arena Championships and at the National Girls Championships. In December 2005 four girls went on tour to Argentina where they were coached by Pancho Mario Moreno (7 goals) it is hoped that a group of girls will return to Argentina in December 2008.

Training Sessions
Polo training usually takes place on a Wednesday and Thursday evenings after school, between 4 and 7pm. Girls play arena polo as well as the outdoor game and so training matches the national polo calendar.

The A team of Carinthia Pearson (captain) Louisa Wentworth Stanley, Miranda Simpson and Arabella Montague played in the top division at the National Girls Championships. Following this Heathfield St Mary’s defeated Luckley Oakfield convincingly 3 – 0 with excellent play from all members of the team. This result set up a final chukka to win the ‘plate’.
