Drama
Drama is a popular, enjoyable and vital part of the Heathfield St Mary’s curriculum, fostering the creativity, personal confidence and communication skills of the individual as well as developing all-round theatre knowledge through scripted and improvised work.
All girls in the first three years have an hour of timetabled drama each week. Thereafter, drama is available as a GCSE, AS and A-level option subject. We follow the Edexcel specification.
Heathfield St Mary’s has a fully equipped drama studio as well as two other large halls, all of which are used as performance venues. In addition to examined performances, each year the school mounts full-scale senior and junior productions. In the last academic year, productions have included A Christmas Carol, The Killing of Sister George, Be My Baby and Lady Audley’s Secret. The school also offers a flourishing programme of individual lessons leading to LAMDA examinations. Frequent theatre visits are an integral part of school life. We are ideally placed for visits to London and further afield.
