Curriculum 2000 heralded the introduction of AS and A2 studies.

The standard of AS examinations is set at a level mid-way between that of GCSE and A-level. The A2 examinations are of A-level standard. The AS and A2 examinations each comprise three modules, marked on a Uniform Mark Score which totals a maximum of 300.

Lower VI Form / Year 12 girls will normally sit AS examinations in four subjects, one of which becomes a free-standing AS, with three subjects being continued into Upper VI Form / Year 13 at A2. However, in this area as all, we are flexible to individual need, so that a gifted and talented student may sit five AS examinations, whilst for a small minority of girls three AS examinations represents the optimum outcome.

The cumulative mark score at AS and A2 totals 600. The equivalent Uniform Mark Scores to grades at AS and A-level are detailed below.

The following subjects are offered at AS and A2:

Art
Biology
Business Studies
Chemistry
Chinese
Classical Civilisation
Design and Technology: Textiles Technology
Drama and Theatre Studies
English Literature
French
Geography
History
History of Art
Latin
Mathematics
Music
Photography
Physics
Politics (AS only)
Religious Studies
Spanish

In keeping with our philosophy at GCSE, option blocks are constructed around the girls’ choices.

In addition, sixth formers have the opportunity to participate in schemes such as Young Enterprise and the Duke of Edinburgh Award, as well as a wide range of other extra-curricular activities. A carefully co-ordinated careers programme, personal, social and health education and regular visits from external speakers complement the richness and diversity of our Sixth Form curriculum.
