Aims

We are committed to the following core principles:

  • Academic excellence – the school aims to develop in its girls a sense of academic wonder and ambition and encourage them to explore and delight in the world of learning;

  • A contemporary curriculum – whilst retaining its traditional strengths, the curriculum adapts to the world of new opportunities. The school encourages girls to use knowledge effectively and creatively, as well as developing skills in team building, communications and problem-solving;

  • All girls – we believe in creating an environment which recognises the particular needs of girls, and which provides them with the security and support they need to challenge themselves, take risks in learning both within and beyond the classroom, and enjoy time with their peers, without distraction;

  • Full boarding – this is central to the ethos of the school. Full boarding enables the girls to learn about the give and take of community life, develop lasting friendships and grow into well-rounded, independent young women;

  • Strong pastoral care – the well-being of the girls is paramount, and we adopt a highly effective approach to pastoral care;

  • Christian foundation – Christian teaching is the rock on which the school is built, challenging the expectations and values of today’s society and encouraging the girls to develop a broader, deeper perspective on life and their responsibilities as members of the wider community; and

  • Staff development – our staff are extremely well qualified, highly trained and committed to educating girls for the 21st century.
